Robin Williams is an American comedian and actor. He was born on July 21st, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and Marin County, California. He moved to San Francisco in 1967. He was a shy person in his early years of childhood. He was an overweight child and nobody wanted to play with him. Therefore to entertain himself, he used to talk in different voices. He was performing in night clubs when he was discovered for the role in episode of TV series Happy Days in 1974 and later for TV series Mork and Mindy in 1978. He became famous with the alien Mork role in the TV series Mork and Mindy (1978 to 1982) and later with stand up comedy. He would have appeared on an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation in 1987 but he had to drop out due to schedule conflict. He was voted funniest man alive by Entertainment Weekly in 1997. It also listed him as one of the 25 best Actors in 1998. In 2004, Robin Williams was voted 13th at Comedy Central's list of 100 Greatest Stand-ups of All Time. Many Robin Williams Movies are famous for his comedy role, including Mrs. Doubtfire (1993) and The Birdcage (1996). In 1996, two of his movies, Jumanji (1995) and The Birdcage (1996) crossed $100 millions mark in the same week. He also gave his voice in movies Aladdin (1992), Aladdin and the King of Thieves (1995), animated feature film Robots (2005), Happy Feet (2006) and Everyone's Hero (2006). He also worked in dramatic movies such as Dead Poets Society (1989), The Fisher King (1991), Hook (1991), Awakenings (1990) and What Dreams May Come (1998). In 2002, Robin Williams worked in thriller movies Insomnia and One Hour Photo.
Robin Williams has done many stand-up comedy tours. Some of his famous tours are An Evening With Robin Williams, Robin Williams: At The Met and Robin Williams LIVE on Broadway. The latter was in 2002 after 20 years of break and broke many comedy show records. It won Grammy in 2003. In 1995, the role of The Riddler in Batman Forever had been offered to him. But eventually, it went to Jim Carrey.
Robin Williams won Oscar in 1998 for the best actor in a supporting role in movie Good Will Hunting (1997). He was also nominated for the Oscar for the best actor in a leading role in the movies The Fisher King (1991), Dead Poets Society (1989) and Good Morning, Vietnam (1987). He won Golden Globe award in 1994 for the best performance by an actor in a comedy and musical motion picture in Mrs. Doubtfire (1993). He also won 44 other awards and nominated for many other awards throughout his career. He recently underwent successful heart surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.

Robin Williams Movie, World’s Greatest Dad was released on August 21st, 2009. It was released on DVD and Blu-ray on December 8th, 2009. His new movie, Old Dogs, was released on November 25th, 2009 in USA. As per box office, it didn't do well in first few weeks. It grossed $35 miliions in first few weeks. That is said to be the reason that Disney has cancelled production of movie Wedding Banned. In this movie, Robin Williams plays Dan and John Travolta plays Charlie. Both are business partners and good friends. Under unusual circumstances, they are forced in the care of 7 year old twins.
One of the most popular Robin Williams movie, Mrs. Doubtfire, is directed by Chris Columbus and the cast are Robin Williams as Daniel Hillard (and Mrs. Doubtfire), Sally Field as Miranda Hillard, Pierce Brosnan, Harvey Fierstein, Polly Holliday, Lisa Jakub, Matthew Lawrence and others. It was released on 24th November 1993. The movie is about Mr. Hillard who after losing his job, also gets divorced. Obviously, his wife gets custody of their kids. To stay closer with his kids, he disguises himself as a female housekeeper who is hired by his ex-wife.
